Sofia-Maria Paco, LMT
Maria-Sofia, or “Sofi” is a highly diversified and deeply trained massage therapist. Sofi practiced for over ten years as a licensed mental health counselor in Virginia. Gifted with an especially intuitive touch and strong bodywork training, Sofi couples her knowledge and skills of working with the psyche with her knowledge and skills of working with the body to undo the somatic responses that often cause pain and discomfort in our bodies. She specializes in Myofascial releases, Trigger Point releases, Cranio-Sacral, IntraOral release techniques, and Barbara Brennan Energy Healing (BBEH). A born healer, Sofi is a Mind-Body specialist in authentic form.
To simply say that Sofi has “extensive training” would be a deep understatement. Sofi has had several years of training and residency in Mental Health from Behavioral Specialist to Intensive In-Home Counselor. She then practiced as a Mental Health Counselor for over a decade. In addition, she has had training in Osteopathic techniques, Massage therapy, Cupping, IntraOral release techniques, Cranial-Sacral therapy, and Energy and Shamanic healing. She was a Certified Nursing Assistant and has Crisis Prevention and Intervention training. Sofi also pursues healing through her hobbies with Botanical medicine, Wildcrafting, and is a Ceramics artist.
Somehow, Sofi integrates all of her knowledge, skills, training, and unique perception of the world to help her patients heal physically, psychologically, and spiritually because she understands the intersections of these aspects within the human person. Tackling one area means that we make space for other areas to heal as well.
Sofi worked for over a decade in the mental health realm, but she wanted more for her patients. She understood the intersection of physiology, energetics, and the psyche and wanted more training leading her to pursue Naturopathic Medicine at Bastyr University.
When she discovered massage therapy, she realized that the bodywork coupled with her understanding of mental health was her true calling for practice. After joining Rebel Med NW as a massage therapist, she realized that she had a whole resource system of providers to do the Naturopathic Medicine management that she wanted for her patients. She no longer had to do everything. With a heavy heart, she decided to leave Naturopathic Medicine and pursue mental health licensure in Washington state so that she can truly practice the Somatic Mind-body therapy that she has been practicing all along.
Right now, Sofi is in pursuit of her mental health counseling licensure, but she continues to approach her patients with the Mind-body perspective that is innate in her skills and talents, within her current scope of practice.
Home & Hobbies
Sofi loves to spend time processing her own life through making ceramics. She is devoted to her puppy and her partner, and her personal and professional self-development.
Dr. Andrew Simon and staff provided an inviting yet professional environment to receive care in. I appreciated his straight forward approach to my health. I was able to get my questions answered without feeling rushed like with many doctors and his answers were knowledgable but easy to understand. In addition, Dr. Simon was able to provide me a dietary plan to help me improve my energy and feel less inflamed and he didn’t overwhelm me with supplements either. What was really cool was during my visit, I had mentioned I had this weird kink in my neck for a week and he was able adjust my neck and back! I really appreciate the integrated approach Dr. Simon takes.
Dr. Simon is a very personal and professional physician. He is not only knowledgeable but he also takes the time to listen to all aspects of your life which exemplifies the integrative care model!
Dr. Simon is a well trained naturopathic physician fluent in many different treatment options. I appreciate the time he takes to educate and explain every step of the way!
