A New Reality and New Obstacles

Many people are struggling with mental health issues during quarantine. Some have had mental health conditions that they have been managing their whole life, and quarantine has created many more obstacles for them to have access to the support that they need. Others may have never struggled with mental health issues and now find themselves in foreign territory as they navigate the stresses of the social, political, and economical turbulence caused by the COVID-19 pandemic on top of the stress caused by social isolation and having one’s movements restricted for a prolonged period of time.

For better or for worse, many states including Washington State are beginning to open up their economies again. This may cause some people to breathe a sigh of relief at the prospect of being able to see friends and family in person. Others may become more anxious due to the health and medical ramifications that could follow suit. Everyone will continue having to navigate the economy, their own finances and security, and the sociopolitical strife that is not going to magically disappear, but will be here for us to all navigate together as a society.

At Rebel Med NW, we are with you. We are going all through these same things ourselves, and we want to continue to serve our community in any ways that we can. We have compiled a list of resources for at-home learning and entertainment that are free, and we have compiled some mental health resources as well. Our clinic also offers a variety of mind-body modalities to specifically help patients manage mental health.

Rebel Med NW also has great modalities for helping manage and support mental health.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an ancient art that was developed to help the body’s ecosystem rebalance. This rebalancing happens at a physical, energetic, and mental level. Acupuncture not only helps to decrease inflammation and boost the immune system, it also activates the rest and digest mechanisms of our body and triggers endorphins translating to a prolonged sense of well-being.

Biofeedback

Biofeedback

Explore a modern approach to the mindbody connection and learn how all your current health monitoring gadgets can actually help you retrain your body for relaxation. Work with a professional to understand your body and learn to implement the best calming strategies for you, then start practicing on your own. This is a therapy that you keep with you forever.

Massage Therapy

Massage Therapy

Everyone is familiar with the calming effects of massage. Rebel Med NW is bringing back our massage therapist extraordinaire: Sofi Paco. We have implemented various health protocols to limit the spread of COVID-19 per CDC recommendations, while still being able to offer this wonderful modality from a highly skilled and intuitive practitioner.

Naturopathic Medicine

Naturopathic Medicine

One thing that sets Naturopathic Physicians apart from allopathic physicians is their ability to provide more time for counseling in addition to managing primary healthcare needs. This is not to replace in-depth counseling and therapy, but it is a good start and can help to inform patients of what types of in-depth therapies may be best for their needs. In addition, our physicians will make biomedical considerations such as possible implementation of medications, supplements, herbs, or referrals to other modalities into consideration as well.
