ADHD Treatment LENS Neurofeedback in seattle

At Rebel Med NW, Seattle Met Top Doctors Dr. Andrew Simon and Dr. Phonexay Lala Simon offer the Low Energy Neurofeedback System (LENS) — a gentle, non-invasive therapy that helps the brain optimize itself. Whether you are a parent seeking help for your child with ADD, anxiety, or digestive issues like IBS, or a busy professional struggling with ADHD, depression, PTSD, or chronic stress, LENS provides a non-medication approach to restoring focus, resilience, and well-being.

What is LENS Neurofeedback?

Neurofeedback is a form of biofeedback that uses real-time brainwave activity to guide the brain toward healthier patterns. Unlike traditional EEG training, LENS Neurofeedback delivers subtle, low-energy electromagnetic feedback that encourages the brain to “reset” stuck patterns and self-correct. This low energy signal that is fed back to the brain, assists similar to TMS or other brain treatments in an effort to encourage the brain to explore re-wiring or neuroplasticity encouragement after significant physical, mental, emotional traumas in the body or brain. Gentle stimulation helps fundamentally encourage the body to heal itself when given the right environment.

The result? Improved regulation of mood, cognition, focus, and overall resilience — often with lasting effects after just a few sessions.

LENS Neurofeedback Process

How Does a LENS Session Work?

Integrative Neurofeedback Treatment in SeattleDuring a session:

  • Small sensors are placed on the scalp and ears to read brainwave activity.

  • The system delivers extremely gentle electromagnetic pulses — less than a trillionth of a watt (millions of times weaker than a cell phone).

  • Sessions last from a few seconds to several minutes. You simply close your eyes and relax while your brain does the work .

Unlike traditional neurofeedback, you don’t need to consciously train your brain — LENS works passively, helping your nervous system reorganize itself.

Clients often notice immediate effects such as:

  • Colors appearing more vivid

  • A sense of relaxation and calm

  • Easier breathing and deeper relaxation

  • Increased patience and humor

What to Expect After Treatment

In the first 48 hours, clients frequently report:

  • Less irritability (“I’m not yelling at my kids anymore”), less reactivity to stressors

  • Better sleep, energy, attention

  • Reduced cravings (less caffeine, alcohol, food, or smoking)

  • More affectionate and engaged children

  • Decreased anxiety, emotional meltdowns, or stress reactions

Temporary reactions may include feeling “wired,” sleepy, or noticing a brief increase in symptoms before improvement. These effects usually pass quickly and indicate that your central nervous system is reorganizing.

For Example, by reseting your nervous system, much like a meditation or acupuncture session, your nervous will feel calmer, this might allow you to observe your tiredness more readily versus masking your nervous system with adrenaline to stay hypervigilant. Because we are changing your nervous system response it can be completely normal to have shifts and changes in your perceived experience to your world. Check in with the people around you if they notice this difference.

How Many Sessions Are Needed?

Every brain is unique, but general patterns include:

  • Sudden onset after trauma or stress: 4–10 sessions may be sufficient.

  • Long-standing or complex issues (ADHD, PTSD, anxiety): 20 sessions are common.

  • Severe injury or neurological conditions (stroke, TBI, MS): More than 40 sessions may be needed .

Progress is tracked by monitoring your top 10 symptoms and adjusting the feedback to your physiology week by week.

Who Can Benefit from LENS?

The LENS system doesn’t treat a diagnosis — it addresses blocked brain functions that underlie many conditions :

  • Children & Teens: ADD/ADHD, anxiety, autism spectrum challenges, learning difficulties, digestive health struggles like IBS.

  • Adults: Anxiety, depression, PTSD, sleep issues, chronic stress, cognitive fog, chronic fatigue, migraines.

  • Peak Performers: Improve focus, clarity, creativity, and resilience without stimulants.

LENS Neurofeedback Training Advanced Recommendations:

  • Many you are already familiar with the process of meditation and self regulation practice, previously learned in counseling, class, or workshop.
  • When performed in combination with counseling, somatic bodywork, or other mental health therapeutics, LENS Neurofeedback can be an optimizer for your ability to introspect and lower reactivity to stimuli, as you learn to regulate your nervous system more between the fight & flight or rest & digest parts of your nervous system.
  • Pairs well in sessions when seeking out Acupuncture, Craniosacral, or trauma informed somatic body practitioner.
  • Consider our primary care counseling/behavioral health approach or working with one of our trusted counseling referrals who utilize therapies such as EMDR as adjunctive and compatible therapies when receiving LENS neurofeedback training.
