COVID-19 Symptoms that require Telemedicine Visits prior to in-office care

Please review the following symptoms prior to care at Rebel Med NW:

PER CDC: People with COVID-19 have had a wide range of symptoms reported – ranging from mild symptoms to severe illness.

These symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Chills
  • Repeated shaking with chills
  • Muscle pain
  • Headache
  • Sore throat
  • New loss of taste or smell

In addition, based on evidence of research we would additionally be mindful if you have had recent bowel changes including vomiting and diarrhea in general, as we would like to prevent the spread of influenza, norovirus, and any other pathogenic viral diseases that can spread through the community.

Please be aware that currently there is a median time of 14 days quarantine recommended for those that are experiencing symptoms regardless if testing positive for COVID-19.

As testing continues to improve, please be considerate of our limited abilities for testing, even if you think you have contracted the novel coronavirus we are advising that testing be only recommended for those at high risk(COPD, Diabetes, Cardiovascular disease, or underlying immune compromise) and age 60+ due to their priority risk status and potential need for medical management.

Precautions we are taking in our facility for COVID-19:

  • Mask use for staff and patients
  • HEPA Filters, including 3 UV HEPA filters
  • Cleaning of surfaces Hourly
  • Physical Distancing
  • Telemedicine
  • Appointment spacing
  • Staff Health Awareness: that if they were to start experiencing symptoms, or if a family member, they have been advised to stay home, and your scheduled appointment may move to Telemedicine or rescheduled to another time.

COVID-19 Testing

Symptomatic Testing:

  • The University of Washington is offering drive-through testing for their patients, students and workers at its Northwest Seattle Campus.
  • Most Urgent Care Facilities, Hospitals and larger clinics in the area are offering testing. We suggest you call first to inquire, as some facilities are designating some of their clinics to be COVID-19/Flu Clinics.
  • The Everett Walk In Clinics that are being set up to specifically see Corona Virus/Flu patients are:
    Smokey Point
    Everett (Gunderson)
    Shoreline
    Bothell

Antibody testing Availability:
While starting to become available, consider reading some present concerns regarding antibody testing from Public Health Insider.

  • UW Antibody test
  • US Biotek Antibody Test
  • CHL IGG Antibody test

Antibody testing Disclaimer:
Clinical Significance: Detection of IgG antibodies may indicate exposure to SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19). It usually takes at least 10 days after symptom onset for IgG to reach detectable levels. An IgG positive result may suggest an immune response to a primary infection with SARS-CoV-2, but the relationship between IgG positivity and immunity to SARS-CoV-2 has not yet been firmly established.
Antibody tests have not been shown to definitively diagnose or exclude SARS-CoV-2 infection. Positive results could also be due to past or present infection with non-SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus strains, such as coronavirus HKU1, NL63, OC43, or 229E. Diagnosis of COVID-19 is made by detection of SARS-CoV-2 RNA by molecular testing methods, consistent with a patient s clinical findings.

COVID-19 Treatment Recommendations:

While we do carry several dietary supplements that can be beneficial for generalized immune health & support, endothelial dysfunction, and treatments of cardiovascular disease & diabetes, we would recommend that you meet with one of our licensed Naturopathic or Eastern Medicine providers to determine if these tools are in your best interest.

Due to the specific nature of how viral diseases spread, we do recommend that the best method of prevention and treatment is following guidelines put out currently by the CDC, King County Public Health. We are actively researching case reports and information that is coming out from harder hit areas around the world. We are in full advocacy for vaccination, or treatments as they become approved by the FDA.

General Treatment Disclaimer: Any treatments we may recommend are considered investigational, and not curative of any particular disease.  There is currently no FDA approved therapy that can directly treat the novel coronavirus known as SARS-COV2 that causes COVID-19 disease.

Our goal is to always reduce risk, reduce exposure, and reduce complications associated the transmission of this disease and any other disease which has the potential to harm vulnerable populations.

While there are many potential tools to help alleviate or support the consequences of a viral disease, we find that each patient needs to have a custom risk assessment to determine their individual needs, and are more than happy to start this conversation with you.

Thank You!
The Rebel Med NW Team would like to thank you for following this guidance as it really helps to support our continued ability to help you and the community with their medical care and needs
