COVID-19 Guidance and Care Operations at Rebel Med NW

COVID 19 CLINIC UPDATE (3/19/2020)

In efforts to be in alignment with King County Public Health, CDC regulations and the Seattle community, Rebel Med NW has decided to convert ALL office appointments to telemedicine for the next few weeks. We will temporarily cease all acupuncture, physical medicine, IV therapy, injections and massages. We will resume all medical services and in person appointment times on April 1st, 2020 with a limited schedule, with gradual increase in more time slots available by April 6th.

Please reach out to one of our ND providers if you need refills on any medications or guidance on your individual health care, or have trouble reaching your regular doctor, as Naturopathic Physicians can prescribe most non-scheduled drugs.

We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause, your health and safety is our top priority. Our goal is to remodel our practice to facilitate optimal safety, and care for our patients, particularly in such a stressful time. We are currently training our staff and modifying ur facility to optimize our staff and patients safety in preparation for the next several months of anticipated mitigation efforts.

If you had a confirmed appointment during this period please check your voicemail and email for updated information. Our office will continue to stay up to date with all regulations and health care policies. We sincerely care about the health and well being of the Seattle community and we will continue to support you throughout this time of unprecedented uncertainty.

  • Our office will resume in-person office visits on April 1, 2020 with a modified scheduling system to reduce exposure risk and optimize patient flow.
  • Our providers are able to authorize testing of COVID-19, however the Rebel Med NW facility is not currently equipped to perform in office nasal-pharyngeal testing. This could change in the near future, as improved testing opportunities arise each day.
  • Our Naturopathic & Chinese Medicine providers are ready to support and boost a balanced immune response during this time of allergy season, influenza, and common cold. This includes the importance of treatment of underlying conditions that could potentially put you at more risk of complications if you were to contract COVID-19. Please inquire about therapies and options to help during this time of need by scheduling a telemedicine appointment.
  • Our office is remotely open during these times of need. We are currently answering phone calls and emails. If a team member of Rebel Med NW is not available to take your phone call, someone will return your voicemail shortly.
  • We ask all patients to please wash your hands upon entering the clinic space, follow posted signs we have in place, and be diligent in proper hygiene at your home & work settings.
COVID-19 Policy

How to attend a visit at Rebel Med NW during the COVID-19 Pandemic

Rebel Med NW Ballard Integrative Medical TeamThank you for your interest and support of our small business Rebel Med NW.  We care deeply about the safety of all of our patients, employees, and have improved our capacity to handle the demand we have received regarding requests for care with Telemedicine Support. Please take a moment to examine our clinic guidance that we have put in place regarding the COVID-19 pandemic and supporting the Ballard Community. Our top priority as well as the community should be to protect the well-being of vulnerable populations, immune-compromised, pregnant, elderly, and individuals with cardiovascular, diabetes, or cancer health history. These populations are most risk regarding the complications of this coronavirus. Please check out Flattenthecurve.com to learn about important things you can do to reduce the demand on the healthcare system and promote safety in your community. Due to the specific nature of how viral diseases spread, we do recommend that the best method of prevention and treatment is following guidelines put out currently by the CDC or the  King County Public Health.

Entry into Rebel Med NW

While we are currently open during normal business hours again April 1st, we are asking the following for all patients to mindful of before entering our facility. Additionally as an abundance of caution to prevent transmission to other patients and staff we are requesting the following:

Fever: temperature of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher. You must not have a fever for 24 hours before your appointment. If you have a fever of 100.4° F [37.8° C] or greater using an oral thermometer, you should stay home. You can return when you’ve completed a phone or telemedicine screening, or after 2 weeks of isolation, or confirmation you have either cleared COVID-19 or tested negative.
Vomiting: you can have an appointment 2 weeks following the last episode of vomiting, but will be pre-screened via telemedicine or phone still if you are looking for hands on care including acupuncture, massage, spinal manipulation.
Chronic cough and/or runny nose: continual coughing and excessive nasal discharge. Conditions may be contagious and may require treatment from your health care provider. Please use Telemedicine to to help support any concerns you have, and follow current CDC guidance of 2 week quarantine.
Diarrhea: more than one watery stool in a 24-hour period, requires a telemedicine consult.
Sore throat: especially with fever or swollen glands in the neck.

Please be aware that currently there is a median time of 14 days quarantine recommended for those that are experiencing symptoms regardless if testing positive for COVID-19. Due to limited abilities for testing, even if you think you have contracted the novel coronavirus we are advising that testing be only recommended for those at high risk(COPD, Diabetes, Cardiovascular disease, or underlying immune compromise) and age 60+ due to their priority risk status and potential need for medical management.

Precautions we are taking in our facility for COVID-19:

Regular cleaning using anti-virucidal for our treatment surfaces of our facility.
Single use masks available for questionable patients even if allergies or other symptoms available.
HEPA Filter at our air controlled entrance to improve air quality.
Bathrooms available prior to entering facility for hand washing. We ask all patients to please wash their hands before entering the clinic space.
Prescription medicine support for your current underlying health conditions, that we can put in place to your pharmacy.
Our employees are all aware that if they were to start experiencing symptoms, or if a family member, they have been advised to stay home, and your scheduled appointment may move to Telemedicine or rescheduled.

Dietary Supplement Recommendations

While we do carry several dietary supplements that can be beneficial for generalized immune support and to create an optimal immune response, we would recommend that you meet with one of our licensed Naturopathic or Eastern Medicine providers to determine if these tools are in your best interest. Due to the specific nature of how viral diseases spread, we do recommend that the best method of prevention and treatment is following guidelines put out currently by the CDC, King County Public Health. We are actively researching case reports and information that is coming out from harder hit areas of the world including Italy and China.

COVID-19 Testing

At this time we are still formulating our approach to supporting testing if it does not put our other patients and employees at risk. The following clinics are offering testing:

  • The University of Washington is offering drive-through testing for their patients, students and workers at its Northwest Seattle Campus.
  • Most Urgent Care Facilities, Hospitals and larger clinics in the area are offering testing. We suggest you call first to inquire, as some facilities are designating some of their clinics to be COVID-19/Flu Clinics.
  • The Everett Walk In Clinics that are being set up to specifically see Corona Virus/Flu patients are:
    Smokey Point
    Everett (Gunderson)
    Shoreline
    Bothell

Any treatments we may recommend are considered investigational, and not curative of any particular disease.  Our goal is to reduce risk, reduce exposure, and reduce complications associated with our local health care capacity and hospital systems.

While there are many potential tools to help alleviate or support the consequences of a viral disease, we find that each patient needs to have a custom risk assessment to determine their individual needs.
